Douglas
R. Gilbert has been a serious photographer since the age of fourteen.
When he was twenty-one, he joined the staff of Look magazine in
New York. A few years later, he left Look to work as a freelance
photographer and has since had his work published in countless
national and international publications.
His work is in the permanent
collections of the Art Institute of Chicago and the High Museum
of Art in Atlanta, as well as in many private and institutional
collections. Forever Young is his fourth book. He lives with
his wife in Amesbury, Massachusetts.
Dave Marsh cofounded Creem and
served as associate editor of Rolling Stone. The more than
two dozen books he has written or edited include Bruce Springsteen:
Two Hearts - The Definitive Biography (which combines his
two bestsellers into one volume), Louie
Louie, the first two
editions of The Rolling Stone Record Guide, Before

Marsh currently hosts Kick Out
the Jams, a talk
and music show on Sirius Satellite Radio. He lives in Connecticut
with his wife and many dogs.
John Sebastian (introductory note), a Greenwich Village native,
was a founding member of the enormously popular band The Lovin'
Spoonful and is the author of such classics as "Daydream," "Do
You Believe in Magic," "Nashville Cats," "Summer in the City,"
and "Welcome Back."
Throughout his long and varied career, Sebastian's
expert blues harp playing has accompanied Willie Dixon, Mississippi
John Hurt, Fred Neil, The Doors, and many others. He lives
in Woodstock, New York.
